FT-IR spectrophotometer Nicolet iS50R with PM-IRRAS accessory is used to characterize adsorbed matter, self-assembled monolayers (SAMs), or thin coatings on reflective surfaces. Metal (gold), silicon, and glass substrates are typically used in grasing angle of incidence reflection geometry. Being a simplified version of an FT-IR ellipsometer, PM-IRRAS shows better sensitivity due to employing a liquid nitrogen cooled MCT detector.
