WCNT acquires new Zeiss Gemini 450 Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope

The Wisconsin Centers for Nanoscale Technology installed a new Zeiss Gemini 450 Field Emission Electron Microscope. Funding was provided by the UW-Madison MRSEC, COE, L&S, VCRGE and CALS. The system is currently available for use in the Nanoscale Imaging and Analysis Center.

Features:

  • Variable pressure for analysis of outgassing samples
  • Range of different secondary electron detectors allow achievement of ultimate lateral resolution
  • EDS: Thermo Noran Energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis system; light element detection limit of boron
  • Image resolution of 0.7nm at 15kV, 1.2 nm at 1kV
